Welcome to Maplestone - Accommodation near Bath Wells and Glastonbury Maplestone is situated in the historic Mendip market town of Shepton Mallet in Somerset. The house now the home of Donald and Gillian Sinclair has a picturesque walled garden and is built into an ancient quarry. Originally 17th century weavers' stone cottages it is hidden in the old part of Shepton Mallet in a unique muddle of manors mills and cottages which run along the Sheppey River valley. At Maplestone we are able to offer comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in our characterful cottage interiors. There is a guest wing so the feel is private and the cottage has a separate entrance. We are within walking distance of town and a number of good restaurants and pubs and have ample car parking space. We have a wireless connection and accept most credit cards. Shepton Mallet has been a hive of industry for 300 years and as a result it is full of historic buildings and is surrounded by places of interest. It is also very close to the ROYAL BATH AND WEST OF ENGLAND SHOWGROUND. The town is on the southern edge of the MENDIP HILLS and is conveniently situated for the Roman Medieval and Georgian City of BATH which is second only to London as the leading tourist attraction of the United Kingdom. Shepton Mallet is only a few miles from the ancient city of WELLS with it's wonderful cathedral and long history. Then there is the mysterious Tor of GLASTONBURY to which Joseph of Aramathea is believed to have brought the young Jesus and as a result became one of the main pilgrimage destinations of England. Further west in the MENDIP HILLS is the formidable cave network at WOOKEY HOLE where miles of caverns remain to be explored. Further west still is the world renowned CHEDDAR GORGE with it's magnificent caves and charming little cheese-making village. The district is noted as an area of outstanding beauty which makes it ideal for walkers and cyclists.
Each of the rather special bedrooms at Maplestone is individually decorated and attractively appointed. The en suite bathrooms are comfortably finished and all rooms have remote controlled TV and the usual facilities associated with 4 star accommodation.
