Cockenzie House and Gardens is a charity set up to bring this hidden 17th Century gem into community ownership. With two self catering cottages we are open on a daily basis offering practical and elegant spaces for hire within easy access from Edinburgh - excellent exhibition and function space a traditional tea room studio space for artists and professional businesses and of course holiday accommodation. We are less than one minute's walk from the John Muir Way and the shores of the Firth of Forth less than 30 minutes drive from the centre of Edinburgh and within very easy access of East Lothian's fantastic range of golf courses. Bedrooms The Mercat features one double room the Blooming Room named after Cockenzie & Port Seton's award winning Ladies in Bloom group and one twin room commemorating the Cockenzie Power Station which was decommissioned in 2013 and became world famous in 2015 when the twin chimneys were demolished. Along the corridor guests can find our 'Seton Sands' shower room and 'Boat Shore' Bog. Living Accommodation Our 'Heritage Room' allows guests access to the well equipped shabby chic kitchen and the comfortable sitting area with coloured television and entry out onto the private patio. This in turn leads out on to our listed gardens where guests can walk amongst the apple trees from which Bonnie Prince Charlie's Highlanders fed after the Battle of Prestonpans in 1745 or across the lawns where Sir Walter Scott and Turner would have discussed the illustrations of the Waverley Novels.
