MalaMala is recognised internationally as the best wildlife game viewing destination in the world and is a favourite amongst wildlife documentary filmmakers. The game viewing can be directly attributed to the vast size of MalaMala Game Reserve, the area in which the land is situated - strategically sandwiched between the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sand Reserve (far larger than any other tract of land in this area), the unfenced 19 km boundary with the Kruger National Park, the uninterrupted flow of the Sand River running north to south through the reserve for 20 km and the position of the camps on the western side of the river ensuring no human habitation on 95 percent of the property.
MalaMala was the first reserve to make the transition from hunting to photographic safaris and is the blueprint on which the safari industry was built.
The style, size and decor of each of the 3 camps is uniquely different to each other allowing guests the choice of accommodation without denying them the ultimate wildlife experience.
